NBA Youngboy Gets Arrested

So, if you don’t already know about NBA Youngboy getting arrested let me give you the deets. For the people who don’t even know who he is or why he is popular I will go through that first. NBA Youngboy, formerly Kentrell Desean Gaulden, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is currently He was raised by his grandmother and currently has four children. What yo!!! I was so mad when I found out about this because he is so young and already he is tied down to the responsibilities of caring for his children. So he already has some personal struggles on top of being a new rapper, hopefully being known by the masses and growing as an artist. So why do people care about or even discuss him? Well, he went viral for releasing the music video for his hit song “Win or Lose” while still behind bars. He also found success with his mixtape 38 Baby, which received millions of views on YouTube.

Win or Lose –

I was first introduced to NBA Youngboy when I heard his song “No Smoke”. When I first heard it, I thought “ISSA BOP!”. His flow, cadence and lyrics just tied in with the beat and made it into a smash. It is so tough and the video is lit too. It currently has 80 million views, so he is doing something right lol. He also has another banger called “Outside Today”. It is so catchy and has such a vibe. Check them out:

Now that we got the introduction out of the way let’s get to why is he getting arrested. TMZ reported on February 25th, “NBA YOUNGBOY ALLEGEDLY SEEN BODY SLAMMING GF… Hours Before Arrest”. Allegedly, NBA Youngboy was seen on-camera body slamming his girlfriend, Jania, down on the floor of a hotel hallway in Waycross, Georgia on Saturday. Sources at the hotel told TMZ what the altercation was about in the hotel a couple hours before the rapper was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida for a notable felony warrant for kidnapping and other alleged crimes. Check out the vid for yourself:

According to TMZ, “We’re told a hotel guest heard the commotion and called the front desk to alert them, and then the front desk called cops. Sources say YoungBoy and Jania had fled by the time police arrived … but the footage and evidence found in their room was enough to issue a warrant. We’re told on top of the disturbing video … cops found blood in their room. TMZ broke the story … YoungBoy got busted later that night after law enforcement came into contact with his tour bus. As for Jania … she’s taken to social media to deny the encounter was anything but playful roughhousing between the couple. We’ve reached out to YoungBoy’s camp … so far, no word back”.

This is just crazy and kind of sad. He is said to be getting arrested for alleged assault, weapons violations and kidnapping. I believe his team will bail him out but I can only imagine how much that bail would be. The Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishments. So, his bail won’t be too costly because it is against our Constitution but due to his felony warrant the numbers could add up quick. The saddest part of all of this is Jania. I feel bad that she feels like she has to defend him because he dragged her and beat her up. I know she wants to make him not look like the bad guy but he can’t do that to her thats out of pocket. Sometimes, the victim feels like they have to justify the abusers’ actions but he has no right to put his hands on her. I hope she leaves him because he is not worth it.

I really want to get a discussion going in the comments. Tell me what you guys think. Was he wrong? Were they just playing? Are the domestic abuse lines blurred in this day in age? Should she leave him? Let me know y’all. Thanks for reading.
